Synopsis
As we move through the years in our profession, we realize that there are factors that are determinants for success in our work: accurate diagnosis of the causes that led the patient to collapse the functioning structures and support of their masticatory system, proper planning, correct choice the rehabilitating materials, the patient's commitment to the work performed and the professional's ability to perform the work.
In our clinical examination, having an Integral view of the patient, knowing how to chew, swallow and breathe are the foundations that guide our diagnosis and are fundamental for the correct planning and perfect prosthetic execution.
3 learning objectives:
1) Demonstrate the importance of sagittal midline analysis and its impact on masticatory system functioning.
2) Discuss the criteria for returning or establishing the appropriate vertical dimension for each patient.
3) Report on the need for occlusal plane balance.
